Associate Director, Market Insight

Job Summary  (Primary function)

Associate Director of Market Insight will provide innovative and value added customer and market insights leveraging a variety of data sources and sound market research and analysis skills. This position will generate market insights that support effective decision making, tactic development within marketing, sales, market access and other commercial functions. This includes, but are not limited to, primary research, secondary research and quantitative data analysis that guide key business decisions related to marketing strategy, forecasting, reimbursement / access, sales and life cycle management. position will support dermatology indications pre and post launch. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead market insight support for launch planning of assigned dermatology indications to inform strategy and tactic development in collaboration with Product Strategy, Market Access, Medical Affairs and Commercial Operations team members through application of robust qualitative and quantitative methodologies
  • Lead all phases of primary and secondary market research activities including needs identification, project design, survey design, stimuli creation, coordinating with internal stakeholders and managing external vendors. Translate insights into simple and actionable recommendations through generation of analysis plans, report development and presentation of research findings
  • Collect, analyze and synthesize market information from diverse sources to provide insight on market dynamics, competitive landscape, products and performance
  • Establish and manage all tracking studies, KPIs and routine performance tracking for dermatology indications (ie. ATU, Chart Audit, Message Recall, data purchases, report definition, etc)
  • Provide market, disease and product knowledge and expertise to aid development of advanced analytics projects, segmentation and targeting analysis, clinical alert programs and performance dashboard content development led by Sales Operations
  • Provide analysis and input on forecasting assumptions and incorporate key metrics into tracking studies
  • Maintains in-house acquired knowledge and develops rich interpretation of research findings
  • Ensures appropriate compliance and legal requirements are incorporated and reviewed in a timely manner
  • Effectively and independently prioritizes and manages requests in line with business priorities in a fast paced and changing environment

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)

  • Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative experience with Primary (ie. ATUs, Chart Audits, Landscape Studies, Patient Journey, Message Recall and Testing, etc.) and Secondary (Prescription, Sales, EMRs, Claims Data etc) research studies and analysis that delivers actionable insights for pharmaceutical products
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical capability and critical thinking skills
  • Able to conceptualize and build an analytic plan, mine through data to uncover relevant insights and develop clear and concise presentation of results and compelling business recommendations
  • Demonstrated experience in creating innovation in development of customer insights preferred
  • Ideal candidate has broad experience with insight and analytics from a Marketing, Sales and Market Access Insight perspective as well as working across HCP, Consumer and Payer segments
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with stakeholders and decision makers and work cross functionally
  • Flexible and nimble, easily adapts to changing priorities as needed
  • Independently and effectively prioritizes and manages requests in line with business priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint required with ability to develop compelling data visualization and content
  • Working knowledge of Business Intelligence tools (ie. Qlikview, Microstrategy, Business Objects, etc) and programming (ie. SQL, SAS, SPSS) preferred
  • Robust knowledge of industry data sources for monitoring Sales and Marketing performance required (ie. NPA, NSP, FIA, Plantrak, patient longitudinal, EMR, Claims, etc)
  • Dermatology market knowledge and experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with epidemiology data sources and forecasting preferred
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field required (Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business Analytics, Engineering or related degree)
  • Minimum 7 years experience in market research/analytics role in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry required
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically to attend research, conferences and other events
