Associate Director, Packaging Operations

Department: Global Small Molecule Commercial Mfg & Supply Chain

Our Global Small Molecule Commercial Manufacturing and Supply Chain group is looking for an Associate Director, Packaging Operations.  This position will manage all packaging activities associated with Incyte’s U.S. Supply chain.  Activities include, but are not limited to, packaging validation, serialization, anti-counterfeiting, and technical oversight of packaging operations.  This role is expected to provide input during the design of primary and secondary packaging during development, clinical and global commercial product introductions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee technical activities related to new and existing product packaging, process improvement, and packaging validation.
  • Collaborate with Pharmaceutical Development during all phases of Drug Product manufacturing and packaging validation for new products.
  • Manage all new and ongoing serialization activities for U.S. products.  This include ensuring compliance with all DSCSA requirements, on-boarding of new partners, and preparing for new product launches.
  • Oversee Incyte’s anti-counterfeiting program for U.S. products, and provide input to the program on a global basis.  This includes designing and ensuring the presence of covert features, overt features, and anti-tampering features on commercial packaging components where appropriate.
  • Facilitate activities associated with labeling and artwork design for new commercial products, and with revisions for existing products.  These activities are performed in cooperation with Incyte’s Global Labeling and Artwork Department.
  • Participate in the design of innovative packaging solutions that distinguish Incyte’s products.
  • Oversee product packaging life-cycle.  Support all investigations relating to packaging issues and customer complaints.  Implement improvements to design and/or process when appropriate.
  • Provide direction in determining appropriate drug product shipping qualification / validation studies.  Recommend applicable test methods and standards based on product and package design.
  • Develop packaging operations business processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).


  • BS or MS in Engineering, Life Sciences, or other relevant field.
  • Minimum 7 years pharmaceutical packaging experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of GMP requirements.
  • A broad knowledge of Pharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred.
