Principal Investigator/Assoc. Dir., Analytical Development

Incyte Corporation  is a Wilmington, Delaware-based biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of proprietary therapeutics, primarily for oncology. Our first commercial product, JakafiŽ, is approved in the U.S. for patients with intermediate or high-risk myelofibrosis and for patients with polycythemia vera who have had an inadequate response to or are intolerant of hydroxyurea. We have a diverse and growing portfolio of product candidates, including both small and large molecules. 

Our Analytical Development group is looking for a Principal/Sr. Principal Investigator, Analytical Development (title based on experience) to develop appropriate quality strategies and analytical methodologies to aid in the development of drug substances and drug products. This position will partner with colleagues in Pharmaceutical Development, Process Chemistry, Quality Assurance and external Development Partners to ensure appropriate analytical support is delivered to meet scientific and regulatory requirements.


  • Provides analysis of compounds and formulations submitted by pharmaceutical and process scientists using appropriate analytical techniques (e.g. LC-MS, HPLC, Vibrational Spectroscopy, etc.).
  • Develops, validates and transfers new analytical methods to support Process and Pharmaceutical Development. Facilitates the transfer of analytical methodologies to external laboratories as needed.
  • Experienced in a variety of analytical techniques and their application within a Drug Development setting. Demonstrates expertise in either mass spectrometry or vibrational spectroscopy.
  • Interprets analytical data and effectively communicates results to Discovery and Pharmaceutical Development and Process Chemistry scientists. Solid understanding of statistical approaches to data analysis and regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a technical expert to internal and external partners in the area of Analytical Science.
  • Champions implementation of new instrumentation or analytical techniques to meet the technical and efficiency challenges of the organization.
  • Maintains proper analytical documentation consistent with the nature of work being conducted.
  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of related analytical chemistry in a pharmaceutical.
